Service Opportunities

At Alliance Christian Fellowship, we believe in the importance of serving our community and each other. Here are some current service opportunities available for members to get involved:

Out of the Cold (OOTC):

  • Out of the Cold is a homeless shelter located in downtown State College, actively looking for help around the shelter, specifically in making and serving meals, talking and building relationships with the residents, and helping with various day-to-day tasks around the shelter. Additionally, the OOTC Website lists various items that are needed and can be donated.

State College Alliance Church (SCA):

  • Our parent church, the State College Alliance Church, provides many ways to get involved

ESL Classes:

  • The SCA provides classes to help non-native English speakers learn and become comfortable with the English language. They are looking for help in a wide variety of areas which can be found in the link below.

Awake Student Ministries:

  • Awake is the student ministry group at the SCA that serves students from 6th-12th grade. They are always looking for ACF students to assist with their events, and to help lead and mentor smaller groups of students

AWANA:

  • AWANA is a weekly event that meets at the SCA on Sunday nights from 6:00 -7:30 pm during the school year. During this time, kids from age 3 through 6th grade play various games, learn and understand more about God’s word, and how they can apply it in their own lives. AWANA is always looking for more volunteers to help with these events.

LifeLink:

  • LifeLink is a student organization at PSU that leads special education students at Penn State to further independence in their lives. LifeLink is always looking for volunteers, those which can be a mentor for a student, which means accompanying a certain student around campus for a specific time slot during the day or participate in certain activities to build relationships with the students in LifeLink (Late Night/ Campus Nav).

The Lion’s Pantry:

  • The Lion’s Pantry is the official on-campus food pantry for Penn State students. They seek to combat the issue of food insecurity by providing access to food to all Penn State students, free of charge. They have an active list on their website detailing all the various goods that can be donated in order to provide this great service.
